"The strangest things happen when you're dead." (May Elizabeth Trump) The deathly silence is about to be broken. She disliked the company of others and death did little to warm her spirit. She had led an independent life and she faced death in much the same way. She was finally alone, finally free from the mindless babble of others, at least that's what she thought. May Elizabeth Trump was the rarest of spirits and she was none too happy about it either. She was a dead medium, a ghost who can speak with the living, and her services were to become in great demand. Flung into the limelight and smothered with unwanted attention, May soon discovers that it is not only ghosts with long awaited messages that have taken an interest in her. Something dark was lurking in the shadows, stalking her. Even the dead are not left to rest in peace. Dead Medium A humorous, character driven story and a unique vision of life after death. Not your average ghost story.

Dead Medium (Audible Audio Edition) Peter John Joel Froomkin Books

Dead Medium is definitely not your typical ghost story. In all honesty, I was a bit apprehensive in reading this book because I truly don’t like ghost stories--they give me nightmares. But I’ve been recently trying to widen my reading horizons by exploring different genres of writing. When this book found its way across my desk I was a bit skeptical from my first glance at the cover, but as I started reading the first page I was hooked.

If you’re curious as to why the first page was so interesting it was simply because of the setting or I should say the storyline. The first chapter was laugh-out- loud funny. It’s also your first introduction to the main character May Elizabeth Trump or simply May. May lives alone, and is the typical old soul, literarily and figuratively. Let’s not forget ornery and pretty set in her ways, however the first few chapters of this book sets the stage for the premise of the book. As much as I’d like to tell you what happens I can’t because it would be a major spoiler alert. However, what I can’t say is what happens to May sets the story on a roller coaster ride and makes this book an ultimate page-turner.

What I can tell you is that there are dead people involved, since the “Medium” part of the book involves séances. There is love, betrayal, an inheritance and an old house. Did I mention there is a lot of wine drinking--lots of wine drinking. So you know from experience that if you give a bottle of wine to a group of old ladies that you’re really going to have some funny moments--actually hilarious situations. There are also a lot of ghosts and living people who are looking for redemption and in some cases retribution.

What I really enjoyed about this book is that you get to see May change and grow as an individual and actually change from an ornery old goat to a gentle soul. Are there bad guys or I should sayghostly entities in this book? Of course, there has to be some creepy parts to this book, that’s what helps to make it a page turner. Do people get killed or die in this book? Yep. But I will say this, May does meet a lot of interesting people on her journey.

There are two actual storylines I would like to see continued or maybe three; does Penny and Gary get married and does she managed to master her powerful abilities, will May and George be rescued and will Penny’s daughter find the love that eluded her mother in her younger years. To find out what I’m talking about, you will just have to get your own copy of this thrilling and definitely enjoyable ghost story.

Dead Medium (Audible Audio Edition) Peter John Joel Froomkin Books Reviews

May was awesome, she's the Dead Medium, set in her ways and says what she thinks, my kinda gal. And the Ladies that help are fantastic, lovable, funny and just hilarious. Would like to see more from these adorable, lovable, funny characters, and where these events take them.
Dead Medium is a very good story. The author is, imo, a master story teller.
Unfortunately the work is riddled with typos, formatting, and grammar mistakes.
I had a hard time making it through the book because the errors were distracting and tiring.
But because the writer is such a good story teller, I kept coming back to it.
Imo, this story would be a masterpiece and a classic if it was properly proof read and edited.
I hope the author will consider having it properly treated some day.
And that if he writes another book, he will have it properly proofread and edited.
And that's why I gave this book 4 stars.
I've never come across a situation like this before. I think even the story itself could be made matchless with the guidance of a good editor.,
I do recommend this book. It's a really good story, well told in some places.
I stuck it to the end, and cried at the ending. It was great.
This author needs to be picked up by a good publisher. They would both do well out of it. If he has a lot of stories in him, I can see him being tremendously successful.
Good luck, Peter John.
I love stories about ghosts and find this story to be the most entertaining. It made me smile and laugh frequently. It is so fresh and raw that I couldn't help but enjoy the story. From the moment she died to the very end of the story It left me feeling like a participant in the story. Loved all the characters, the living and the dead. It is a great story from a fresh perspective.
I bought this book predominantly because of the title, then I checked the reviews and they glowed - showing a number of healthy stars, so I purchased it. At the risk of being a little sarcastic, I must have downloaded the "other" book. I'm afraid I had to put it down after twenty pages.

The premise is there and it's a good one, and the characters as far in as I got were a little underdeveloped, but getting there. The scenes needed a little tightening up and a bit of tension added here and there - which would have been easily addressed, but there's the problem. The editing - both structural and grammatical - is very poor. And this is a shame, because the book had promise. If I had to lay odds I'd almost swear this was the author's first book, because some really obvious opportunities were missed. It was the lack of editing that stopped me and made me put it down. I assume it was self-published (or some publisher had a massive fail) and it's a shame they didn't spend money on what matters most - a polished final product. I don't mean to be harsh, but it read like a third draft.
